This site provides information for the Generation Next Youth group led by Pastor Bob Bishop.  Pastor Bob has led youth and adults toward a better understanding of the Scriptures for many years.  He comes to Valley with a dream and desire to build the youth into responsible Christ centered adults.  The youth staff are dedicated to those put in their charge.

Dropping Off Your Teens At VBC

To the left is a diagram showing how teens should be dropped off for youth group. All teens should be dropped off and picked up in the back parking lot behind the church (the green area in the diagram). Teens should not be dropped off or picked up in front of the Church. (red area in the diagram)

Generation Next Behavioral Expectations - "The Rules"

The assumptions:
  • We want to learn more about our Lord.
  • We want to do the right thing.
  • We want to have fun.
  • We expect more out of our leaders and our older youth.
The rules:
  • "Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs." (Psalm 100:2)
  • Love one another. (John 13:34)
  • Be trustworthy caretakers of God's gifts.

Love one another:

  • Be respectful of your leaders.
    • Take part in activities with enthusiasm.
    • Happily follow instructions.
  • Be respectful of others (worship, learning).
    • Cell phones, pagers, blackberry's off.
    • Entering and leaving to an absolute minimum.
    • Your appearance should not distract others from worship.
  • Be safe.
    • Once you are on the property stay until your parent or guardian picks you up.
    • When activities are inside, stay inside.
    • When activities are outside, stay in the parking lot behind the building or in the "grassy" area north of the building, remaining "close" to the building.
    • Follow instructions of the Leaders.
    • No riding of wheeled vehicles (skateboards, razors) because of insurance restrictions.

Trustworthy caretaker of God's gifts:

  • Treat all we have as God's gift.
    • God -> Church -> You
  • Do not bring anything to eat or drink into the sanctuary.
  • Do not eat or drink inside the building, unless special provisions have been made.
  • Leave the Church better than we found it.
