Forgiveness: Getting it, Giving it
Religious leaders in Jesus’ day formed societies where men (and it was always men) sat in the evenings, ate meals and debated theology. There were also many Jewish people who lived on the margins, not living by the law, and rejected by these religious leaders as “sinners.” In the parable of the Two Debtors, Simon, a Pharisee, has invited Jesus to a dinner at Simon’s house. Like all cultures, there are certain “rules” when someone comes to your house. In Jesus’ day, three rituals were common: a kiss of greeting, washing of feet and anointing with oil. Suddenly a woman appears at the dinner table. This was possible in those days because the dinners would be held in a courtyard, with the gate open so that the rest of the town could look in on the festivities. The woman is described by Luke as a ‘sinner.’ After this event unfolds, Jesus tells a parable.

    Discipleship As Our Third Purpose
Today we are welcoming Ollis Mozon as guest speaker. Pastor Mozon has spoken at Valley before, and will discussing the importance of discipleship.  Discipleship is a fancy word meaning how you mature in Christ.  How Christ is formed in your thoughts, your actions, your life.  Discipleship is not church attendance or Bible study.  Some folks who have gone to church their entire lives have never been discipled. Discipleship usually happens in pairs of women or men (wherein one of whom having already been discipled guides another).  Discipleship is a walking together in the way of Christ, learning to die, learning how to leave who you were, and learning who you now are.  Learning to follow Jesus, becoming His disciple, means walking alongside someone further in the Christian faith for a significant period.  It is personal. It is challenging.  Jesus walked with his disciples for three years.  This is no six-week curriculum.

    Bending Toward Mending
Today we are welcoming back Chaplin Ollis J. Mozon as guest speaker.  Pastor "OJ" will be teaching from 2 Cor 5:14-20. We Christians are not members of an exclusive "born again" club. Far from it.  We have a message that he can change anyone!  Jesus can rescue and renew anyone!  There is hope in Jesus! Now Paul in his letter to the church at Corinth, points us to our own personal mission.  Pastor OJ will explain what it means to be a instrument of reconciliation.

    Advent Week 2 – Love
    Series: Advent
Today we are welcoming back Ollis "OJ" Mozon as guest speaker. Chaplain Mozon is stepping in for Pastor Kevin this week. Welcome to the second week of Advent – the week of love. This country needs more love towards one another and to realize how much God love us. It is because of His love for us that we have hope and that we can "be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love" (Ephesians 4:2). So, let us rely on God’s love to help us love others in this advent season. It just may make the waiting to celebrate Christmas more bearable.

    Once Weak, Now Strong
In today's message in the Gospel Project, Letters to God's People, guest speaker Ollis Mozon will cover Ephesians chapter 6, verses 10 through 20.  In this session, we will learn how God has exchanged our weakness with His strength in preparing us to stand firm in battle against our true enemy, Satan and his forces of evil.  We have been given spiritual armor from God that enables us not only to stand firm against his attacks but also to advance the Gospel no matter the opposition we face.  We wage war against the enemy and against his designs and his minions as the church's final victory march, celebrating the win Christ has achieved for us.
