Mission – Evangelism As Our Fifth Purpose
When you were a child, your mother or father probably told you more than once to SHARE! Hopefully, you grew up with a sharing attitude.  You share your income with the church and with charities. You share books with friends who enjoy the same sort of literature as you enjoy.  You share your home with family and friends who come to visit. You share your political opinions. Big things – small things – you share with others. And as we explore our purpose of life, today we will discover that sharing is one of our purposes. Evangelism is our mission!!  I don’t know why, but the word “evangelism” is a scary word to many. But the word “sharing” is a good word – a comforting word. We like to share with others and we love it when people share with us! Evangelism is nothing more than sharing! Specifically, we need to share the love and salvation of Jesus Christ!

    Service As Our Fourth Purpose
Today Pastor Kevin teaches the fifth installment of his series entitled, "Come Together". Serving God is a crucial part of your spiritual growth. Jesus Christ modeled this in His life and ministry for us. (Mark 10:45) Serving one another is one of the reasons God brought us into a relationship with Himself. (Ephesians 2:10) Putting our faith to work in practical everyday ways builds up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12). Ultimately it is Jesus Christ we are serving through our actions, activities, and projects. “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 NASB

    Discipleship As Our Third Purpose
Today we are welcoming Ollis Mozon as guest speaker. Pastor Mozon has spoken at Valley before, and will discussing the importance of discipleship.  Discipleship is a fancy word meaning how you mature in Christ.  How Christ is formed in your thoughts, your actions, your life.  Discipleship is not church attendance or Bible study.  Some folks who have gone to church their entire lives have never been discipled. Discipleship usually happens in pairs of women or men (wherein one of whom having already been discipled guides another).  Discipleship is a walking together in the way of Christ, learning to die, learning how to leave who you were, and learning who you now are.  Learning to follow Jesus, becoming His disciple, means walking alongside someone further in the Christian faith for a significant period.  It is personal. It is challenging.  Jesus walked with his disciples for three years.  This is no six-week curriculum.

    Fellowship As Our Second Purpose
Today Pastor Kevin discusses the importance of fellowship and what are the benefits of fellowship. Fellowship is an important part of our faith.  Coming together to support one another is an experience that allows us to learn, gain strength, and show the world exactly what God is.  Coming together with other believers in worship and conversation helps to remind us that we are not alone in this world.  There are believers everywhere. It's amazing that no matter where you are in the world when you meet another believer, it's like you suddenly feel at home.  That's why God made fellowship so important. He wanted us to come together so that we always know we're not alone.  Fellowship allows us to build those lasting relationships so we're never by ourselves in the world.

    Worship As Our First Purpose
Today Pastor Kevin teaches the second installment of his series entitled, "Come Together". Today's message is entitled, "Worship As Our First Purpose".  The importance of worship is huge. Worship Matters.  Worship matters to God. Worship matters to you. Often, we allow personal distractions to get in the way. Sometimes we go to church, but we don’t worship.  We sing songs, but we don’t worship. We listen to sermons, but we don’t worship.  We serve in a ministry area—but don’t worship.  All of these things are elements of worship, but they are not worship in and of themselves, which means that you can do all of them and yet have failed to truly worship God.  Worship is a lifestyle. It’s the gathering of believers to practice our beliefs and celebration of Him.

The Five-fold Purpose of the Church
Today Pastor Kevin begins a new series entitled, "Come Together".  In today's lesson Pastor Kevin answers the question, "What is the purpose of the Church?"  Pastor Kevin will be teaching from Acts 2:42-47.  God’s people gather in a variety of places and settings — and yet they gather for the same grand purpose.  The church is God’s idea and is God’s plan, and no matter what the building looks like or how the programs are organized, the church must be absolutely committed to what God wants His church to be.
